The Consequences of Taking a Break from YouTube and Other Updates
I formally announced to my community I'm taking a break from YouTube. Let's talk about what's next.
My first thought after hitting publish was, “Have I made a huge mistake?”
It’s two days after I hit publish on that one video that signaled to my community I’m no longer working on my YouTube channel. And I’m conflicted.
I’ve gotten so used to checking my analytics every day. But now, I know that I won’t publish new videos, excluding those already in production or pre-production.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s the video:
The gist of my break is simple: YouTube is showing my videos only to people who are interested in Brennan Lee Mulligan, and that means all of my 20+ interviews that were not with him or any of my other videos that don’t concern D20 do not get YouTube juice. I want to change that and ensure the channel grows regardless of who I interview. And that’s something I will need to take some time to think about.
So, let’s talk about what I’m doing in the meantime, shall we?
Gifting a Whole Year of Dropout
The winner of the contest has been notified! Check your spam folder to ensure my email didn’t end up there!
And now, back to the actual things I’m doing instead of YouTube:
Publishing a Book!
I wrote a book called “How to Interview Your Favorite Creators” which is one of the things I get asked via email so many times! How did you get so and so for an interview? So, I decided to write a book about it!
The book will be published on June 29th, but if you want, you can pre-order it now for 50% off and get my latest draft! Pre-ordering the book will also help me fund professional editing for it!
Starting an Etsy Store
One thing I’ve also been doing is investing more time into Etsy.
The work is hard now and unrewarding, but the few sales I already got look promising!
A Digital print shop like the one I’m building could become a good source of passive income.
Blogging on The Internet
I have a blog called Nerdy Modern Blog, and I write reviews on it.
Whether it’s Dimension 20, or some video game, I’ll probably write it.
This Substack Newsletter
Yeah, you heard it here first. I’m also treating this newsletter as a project.
This newsletter is a good way to keep in touch with many of you while also providing me with a wide array of free tools to express myself.
Feel free to reach out about everything!
Thank you so much for reading! I’ll see you soon!
